Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that fit over the facing of a tooth. The idea behind a porcelain veneer is that we try to conserve as much tooth structure as possible so we’re just creating a covering over the tooth but they're very artistically designed and are customized to meet the needs of particular problems a patient may have. Some of these problems may be dark teeth, maybe have crooked teeth, and they have chipped teeth, they may want to lengthen their teeth, they may want to position their teeth in a different position, and given all these problems we have to customize the final result to meet the needs of that person’s particular problems. The nice thing is, is that it’s a instant transformation when it’s done. The procedure entails only a couple of weeks of time—two appointments typically.
